Informations regarding the choice of name for the Society The Preparatory Committee and the founding members were conscious of the fact that not every European language had a concise term for the above-mentioned theme. For example, the anglo-saxon term chosen Classical Natural Medicine has up to now never been used in this respect. Despite considerable apprehension this neologism was chosen to stress the particular scientific nature of the topic as opposed to other, unconventional medical directions. The term classical natural methods underlines the centuries of experience and tradition behind this form of medicine and stresses the formal recognition by the modern form of medicine, which is orientated to natural sciences as taught in colleges. This could make communication and acceptance possible at university level. This is the main priority of the scientific work of the new society. It is to serve and benefit the sick and the public health service as well as to convey a certain culture to medicine. |
